Drawn to scale

Tools of the trade

The kinds of programs used for illustration depend on the content type. For schematic drawings with flat shapes, a vector-based program like Adobe Illustrator can be used. Val uses Photoshop to paint more detailed and textured assignments. Cinema 4D is the go-to program for rendering 3D objects, including proteins built from crystallographic coordinates.
